Hey girls! With school being out on Tuesday, we will be having practice at the studio Tuesday Nov 8 2:30-4:00. If you have a problem with this time just let me know. :) Also, November dues of $25 are due. Have a great 4 day weekend!!

Any dance team member wanting to dance "thriller" at the halloween dance monday can meet at the studio on saturday 10-11 to practice. It's not mandatory...just for fun. :)

Reminder... No games this weekend or Monday. Practice Tuesday 3:45-5:15. The High school dance team is selling car decals for $5. They are an "R" with "DANCE" across it. Karoline will be selling them at Tuesday's practice. If you want one bring $5 to practice. Tammy only ordered enough dance ones for them and us. If you want one let me know. I bought one tonight. Too cute:)

Hip Hop clinic

Dance team, the high school dance team is working on choreography today to teach at the hip hop clinic on Tuesday. They would like a heads up on middle school dance team participants  so they can do something special for you. If you are doing the clinic tuesday please send me a msg so I can let them know. Time and uniform change

Good morning girls! Meet at 5:00 game at 6:00. Check in regularly today to make sure the game hasn't been canceled due to weather. As soon as I hear from the coaches I'll let you know. 

Obviously the field is going to be muddy so no uniforms. We will wear jeans, white bodysuits, some kind of Russell sweatshirt/jersey/shirt (whatever you have), ponytails with bows, poms and whatever shoes you don't care to get muddy. Thanks! Nicole

Parade tonight!

Parade tonight! Everyone meet in the Food Fair parking lot by 5:30pm. Traffic can be congested so give yourselves time. I have bags for each girl with their bodysuits, bows, poms and a backpack donated by the Jones'. Thanks Nicky! If you voluteered to bring a sign don't forget it. We will decorate the truck when you get there:)

Parade

Parade Thursday. Meet in the food fair parking lot at 5:30pm. Uniforms, high ponytail, white shoes, tan tights. I'll bring poms and bows. Volunteers remember to bring your signs. Also, bring a towel to sit on and a jacket in case it gets chilly:)

Letter to parents

Parents,
I’ve had concern expressed from some of you over the uniforms and the girls being too cold during chilly games and I agree. Last year the weather was so warm and this year that’s just not the case. To help with this, I’ve ordered white long sleeve bodysuits to go under their uniforms and knee socks for cold evenings. The total cost of these will be $31.00 due Tuesday Oct 4th. I contacted our Varsity rep and she ordered the girls the same size as their uniforms. They should be here around Thursday so they can have them for the Saturday night game. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me. Also, we are going to be in the Homecoming parade on Thursday September 29th. We will meet in the Food Fair parking lot at 5:30pm. Uniforms, high ponytails, bows, tights, white shoes and body suits and socks (if they have come in by that time). Just a reminder, I update the team’s facebook page and website every week. It is the girls’ responsibility to check one of these sites for info, schedules,changes, reminders etc. If you are not on facebook, the team’s site is russellmiddleschooldanceteam.blogspot.com. Please bookmark and check regularly.
I’m very proud of our girls! I had a lot of compliments after their past two performances. Thanks so much for everything you do! Attendance has been outstanding and the work ethic these girls have is amazing.

Just got off the field in my rain boots and had mud clear to the top of them and the middle school boys haven't even been on it yet to tear it up. Im so sorry! I know you were excited about this game. So was I. See you girls Tuesday!!

Game Day

Game day!! Warm ups @6:45 JFL FIELD. It's supposed to be 67* tonight so bring a jacket to wear in between dances. Uniforms, high ponytail, neutral color pony tail holder, tan tights, white no show socks, white shoes and back ups. No bows tonight. See you tonight!!

Uniforms

Don't forget to turn in the  remaining $58 balance for your uniform tomorrow at practice. If you sold any mall cards,  subtract that amount from the $58 and that is what you owe. Please turn in any leftover mall coupon books tomorrow at practice as well. You will not get your uniform until the balance is paid. :)

Uniform money

Uniform money is due Tuesday September 13 during dance team practice. The final payment amount is $58. If you sold coupon books and turned in the money, deduct that amount from  $58 and that is what you will owe on Tuesday. Makes checks payable to RMS DANCE TEAM. 

Fundraiser

We actually won't be able to set up a table at the game so I'll get back to to you later with another option. Please bring any books you have leftover to practice on Tuesday so we can try to sell the rest. If you turned in money today, please private msg me your total that you sold. Thanks girls!! 

Coupon Books

Coupon book money is due Thursday September 8. Mrs. Renzi will be collecting the money in the office before school. Books are $5. Make checks payable to RMS Dance Team. Thank you!

Updates

Car wash at the Shell station in Flatwoods tomorrow 10-3:00. Bring sunglasses, water and a sign if you want to make one. This is mandatory unless you have personally told me why you will not be there. The car wash is $5 and will go towards purchasing our poms.

I'm Back

THANK YOU to my caring girls and moms that have checked in on me this past week! Your kind words mean so much. Thank you Hannah Frazier for my beautiful get well flowers. Summer Practice Time and Place Change

dance team hand out for try outs

I will share a copy of the score sheet we will be using for try outs. There are a total possible of 100 pts plus 5 for extra credit. The cut off will be 140 which will be a score combined by the two judges. This includes the mandatory steps you MUST have to make the team, knowledge and execution of the dance,   showmanship and appearance. Showmanship includes smiling, eye contact and energy.  Please make sure hair is secure and fixed. Taking hair up and down during try outs will hurt your score. Make up and appropriate outfit should be worn. Let us see what you will look like during a performance.

Try outs will be Saturday starting promptly at 10:00am in the RMS Gym. It is open to parents and family. Please no talking or cell phone use during try outs.

Heel extensions, turns, splits and dance will be done in groups of four. Leaps will be done individually.

A list of the dancers who make the team will be posted on-line at russellmiddleschooldanceteam.blogspot.com by 5:00pm Saturday evening. If your name is on the list, we will be having a brief meeting on Monday, May 9^th at 3:30pm to sign necessary papers, exchange contact information and get a summer schedule.

Entry Fee Deadline Change

ENTRY FEE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO TUESDAY MARCH 15. I will still be at the school tomorrow (Friday) if you have it to turn in. Company dancers can pay at the studio. Please turn in costume and entry fee money no later than Tuesday, March 15.

Entry fees, costumes and fundraiser

Norman's is ordering black bras with clear straps to go under lyrical dresses if you need one. The bras and tan footless tights together will be about $30. 

Please don't forget....$74 ENTRY FEES ARE DUE BY FRIDAY MARCH 11th.  I will be in the front lobby at the middle school Friday afternoon to collect if you have not already paid. SELL YOUR DISCOUNT CARDS!!

Update

Jessica Martin will have discount cards to the Ashland town center to pass out at tuesday's practice. We will sell them for $5 each. You will keep the total amount of what you sell to go towards your costume and entry fees. I will bring the lyrical dresses with me to tuesday's practice for you to try on. If you have your costume money with you, you can take it home. Otherwise you can pick it up at norman's and pay for it then.

Fundraiser

Just waiting on the school's approval for this frundraiser. We will be selling Ashland Town Center discount cards for $5.00. We get 100% of what you make to go towards costumes and entry fees. So if you sell 10, you have made $50 towards your costumes and entry fees. Fantastic! Anything you make over will go into a dance team fund so we can have a banquet at the end of the year. Love it.

Costumes and Fundraisers

Lyrical dresses have been ordered through Norman's Locker Room. They will be in towards the beginning of next week. The cost is $38 due at time of pick up.

Thanks for coming by the new RMSDT site! Here you will be able to find out information and ask questions about the team. After finding about half of the letters I passed out left on the gym floor last week, I thought this might be a more efficient way to get info to you. This site is open to anyone so you don't have to have a facebook account or google account to access it.
